A new range of addiction treatment facilities are to be provided in Reading, as the region holds a competition among companies to see which organisation can provide the best services.
A £3.5 million contract to provide addiction treatment services across the Reading, West Berkshire and Wokingham council areas has been put out to tender, with companies bidding to provide the new suite of services to help people in the region beat their addiction problems, reports Get Reading.
"It is imperative that the new service will continue to have an impact on creating an inclusive society by working with service users, by addressing their use and helping them to become abstinent and to address social issues such as homelessness and employment," the tender states.
The report also suggests that delivering an improved addiction treatment service throughout the area could help to reduce crime in the region.
More than half of all those who have entered drug treatment programmes in the region between May last year and June this year were within the criminal justice system, the report revealed.
rehab clinics form an important part of a drug treatment programme and can help addicts to overcome their problems by taking them out of their everyday routine, where the stress and strains of modern life can make it difficult to overcome their addiction.
