A new campaign from the British drinks industry has met with approval from one specialist alcohol addiction charity.
The government-backed marketing campaign aims to promote responsible drinking and is set to cost some £100 million.
Addaction, the UK's largest drug and alcohol addiction charity, has voiced its approval of the scheme.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Elliot Elam explained that a sensible relationship between alcohol and people of all ages needs to be established.
"Anything that promotes responsible drinking is a good idea, so we would support that and there have been certain campaigns as long as they have been targeted, which can have a certain impact," Mr Elam said.
He added that the action is a step in the right direction; however, he emphasised that a campaign such as this cannot work on its own and that other actions are required, such as removing heavily reduced alcohol in supermarkets.
According to a report in the Lancet, some 3.8 per cent of all global deaths are caused by alcohol abuse.
