Drug and alcohol charity Norcas is today holding a conference aimed at tackling alcohol abuse in East Anglia, according to a report.
The organisation was commissioned by the Suffolk Drug and Alcohol Action Team to research young people's drinking habits, behaviours and attitudes, the East Anglian Daily Times states.
Findings from the study will be discussed at today's conference and there will also be talks and lectures on alcohol abuse and treatment.
Janet Holmes, service coordinator at Norcas Youth Service, explains to the news provider that the charity promoted Alco Cards, which offer practical harm reduction advice and were given out at schools and colleges across Suffolk.
"Following this we returned to the same venues and students completed questionnaires regarding alcohol," she adds.
In order to discuss young people's views, attitudes and experiences regarding alcohol, four focus groups were then set up.
Figures from the Eastern Region Public Health Observatory show that alcohol consumption in woman aged 16 to 24 is increasing.
