One criminal who was caught stealing alcohol twice in one week has been ordered to attend a rehabilitation clinic, reports Hemel Today.
Michael Bullock, from Mercury Walk, Hemel Hempstead, was caught on CCTV on two occasions when he stole drink from a shop in the area.
In the first instance the criminal stole a case of lager and a case of bitter, three days later he was caught in the same store taking a bottle of wine he had not paid for.
The shoplifter admitted the crimes at a court case earlier this week, with his lawyer saying it was due to his addiction, the newspaper reports.
Sean Smith, defending, said the 20-year-old man is "in the grip of alcohol addiction".
In his sentence Mr Bullock was told he must attend a rehabilitation clinic for his alcohol addiction, in addition to carrying out 80 hours of unpaid work.
The convicted criminal was also sentenced to an 18-month community order and will be supervised by the probations service.
A similar case was seen earlier this year, when a man on early release from prison was ordered to attend alcohol addiction treatment after stealing from a DIY shop, reports the Watford Observer.
