EastEnders actress Danniella Westbrook has spoken out about a drug addiction that nearly ended her career.
The 35-year-old told the Sunday Mirror that she developed a serious cocaine habit that ended up costing her £400 a day and almost made her lose custody of her son.
Danniella, now a mother of two and happily married, told the newspaper that she has been sober for nine years and is no longer tempted by drugs and alcohol.
"My life is pretty boring now, but I wouldn't have it any other way - I do the school run, go to Tesco and I walk my dogs," the actress said.
"It was only when I accepted I wasn't in control any more that I started to get better. No one else can do it for you," she added.
Danniella joined EastEnders in 1990 as Sam Mitchell at the age of 15 on a salary of £100,000, a fact that led her to use more and more cocaine.
She was replaced by Kim Medcalf in 2002 before making her return to Albert Square this month.
Meanwhile, singer Robbie Williams has referred to his former cocaine addiction as "damn serious".
The pop star is now clean after entering a drug rehab clinic in Arizona in 2007.
