A mother has revealed her attempts to keep her daughter off heroin in a television documentary.
Kaye Mayne's efforts to help 20-year-old Hannah will be shown in a channel four programme which is set to be screened tonight [Thursday].
The Cutting Edge special, called Heroin, My Mum and Me, follows Ms Mayne's daughter in her trip to South Africa to try and beat the problem.
According to the 49-year-old mother, the family took out a loan to cover the cost of the rehab treatment, reports theargus.co.uk.
She comments to the news provider: "I allowed the documentary to be made to change attitudes and eventually to change government policy and to protect our vulnerable young people."
Ms Mayne adds Hannah is "doing very well" after the rehab visit.
The documentary reveals the mother has suffered a nervous breakdown and witnessed her daughter inject heroin into her feet, the news source adds.
Elsewhere, social justice minister Dr Brian Gibbons has praised a scheme which helps young people in the South Wales with substance abuse problems.
