Young people concerned about issues such as drug addiction or alcohol misuse in East Sussex can receive help and advice from a new service.
Sessions called Backchat and based in Hailsham offer 11 to 25-year-olds guidance in informal chats or discussion groups without fear of being judged.
Topics covered by the sessions include alcohol addiction, the effects of substance misuse on health and laws and fines concerning drug possession.
The meetings will be held by young people from the town.
Town mayor and chairman of Hailsham town council, councillor Dr Ian Haffenden, said: "Young people are under a lot of pressure and we need to inform them to make the right choices and reject alcohol and substance misuse."
It is hoped the help will also have a positive effect on the wider community as well, since drug and alcohol addiction among young people can impact on their families and others in society.
According to government advice, those with drug or alcohol addictions may like to look into having regular sessions with a trained professional therapist or start residential treatment to explore the reasons behind drug taking.
