A Cumbrian rehab clinic has been given £400,000 in an effort to ensure its work with drug and alcohol addicts continues.
The Barrow branch of the Cumbria Alcohol and Drug Advisory Service has been awarded the money from the Big Lottery Fund and will use the cash injection to boost its addiction treatment services.
The announcement was welcomed by the organisation's director, Paul Brown, who explained that the investment would help the rehab clinic to expand and improve the addiction treatment services it provides to the local community.
"We will be able to employ a nutrition and lifestyle advisor, as people who get into problems stop eating properly or looking after themselves, and if they ask for advice we will be able to give it," he revealed.
Mr Brown described the grant as fantastic news for the rehab clinic and confirmed that the funding would help to ensure the organisation's work could continue over the next two years.
rehab clinics are increasingly looking to offer more personalised services to individuals to help them get the right treatment.
In the US, the Mountainside Treatment Center gives patients the opportunity to tackle their addiction problems through tailored treatment programmes that include strenuous exercise and walks through the beautiful hills around Connecticut.
