A rally is being held in New York state in an effort to encourage more people to head into rehab centers and tackle their drug addictions.
LoHud.com reports that the Haverstraw Center and the Rockland Community College Extension in Haverstraw village are launching a major event on September 26th that is designed to highlight the issue of drug addiction in the region and help those suffering from such problems to gain access to the addiction treatment they need.
Marion Breland-Oswald, the director of youth and family services for Haverstraw village, told the publication that although drug addictions can destroy lives and ruin families, there is plenty of hope that people can overcome their problems and lives can be put back together, provided they receive appropriate addiction treatment.
"[Addiction] recovery is possible and with the right kind of support and help, probable," she said.
Ruth Bowles, executive director of the Rockland Council on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependence, added that drug addiction is becoming a increasing problem in the US, with one if four Americans having a family member who is struggling with addiction.
rehab centers can help to tackle the problem and offer a range of services that are often tailored to the needs of a specific individual, thereby ensuring that they are able to access the addiction treatment programme that is appropriate for them.
