People who have tried and failed to moderate their drinking level should seek help at a substance abuse rehabilitation clinic, an expert asserts.
Dr Nick Sheron, a liver specialist based in the Southampton area, claims people drinking regularly at a hazardous level and finding themselves unable to reduce their intake are most at risk.
While he suggests most adults are able to moderate their drinking habits, he says 40 per cent cannot without the help of professionals such as those at detox centres.
He advises that people should first examine their own behaviour and try to manage their alcohol abuse before moving on to external help.
"The concept of 'detoxing' in its more popular sense is an extremely valuable one in terms of stepping back away from those bad lifestyles and giving yourself an opportunity to change things," Dr Sheron states.
In other news, Drug rehab Alternatives has billed itself as a treatment centre which offers a programme including holistic therapies such as instructed meditation and yoga in an effort to psychologically strengthen patients.
