Families and friends are being urged to help drug addicts by implementing an intervention to help people take the first step in facing up to their problem.

The family and friends of a drug addict can provide crucial support in helping the person access the addiction treatment they need, it has been claimed.

Although recognising that interfering through an intervention is never an easy thing to do, the Sunset Malibu drug rehab clinic is advising people that it can provide an important opportunity for the addict to face up to their problems.

"Interventions are vital precursors to drug addiction recovery because of the all-consuming nature of drug addiction itself," explains the clinic.

"Before they enter a drug addiction treatment centre, most addicts need to be told that they have a drug addiction problem," it added.

By taking preventative action, family and friends can ensure that their loved ones are getting the appropriate treatment to help them tackle their problem head-on and are facing up to the issues surrounding addiction.

Many rehab clinics currently offer tailored services to addicts so that the specific reasons behind their drug use can be explored and properly tackled.

This allows a patient the chance to recognise their own symptoms during daily life after leaving the clinic.
