A project offering alcohol and drug addiction support is seeking to help those suffering dependency overcome their problem by offering referrals, a source reveals.
The Wiltshire addiction support Project was set up in 2005 by two former users, the Gazette and Herald reports.
Founders Kev Long and Arron Gibbings created the service to help outpatients avoid addiction relapse, provide detox support and offer advice for those who still have dependencies.
It can offer referrals to substance abuse rehabilitation centres and operates abstinence groups, the news provider states.
Mr Gibbings claims after overcoming his addiction he wanted to give something back to the community he had been taking from "for such a long time".
"I was given a chance by a judge who sent me for drug treatment rather than to prison and once I got clean I felt I had to put something back," he explains.
A recent report issued by Harvard Medical School entitled Overcoming Addiction: Paths Towards Recovery claims those who have entered rehab clinics have a higher chance of beating their dependency.
