Gamblers Anonymous (GA) says it is there for those who come out of casinos or bookmakers and realise they have a problem.
A spokesman for GA Scotland claims the UK's gambling addiction problem is "spiralling" due to the increasing access people have to betting.
He says the organisation works in a similar way to Alcoholics Anonymous, offering its members the chance to give up the habit "one day at a time".
The representative calls gambling addiction "a form of insanity", as those suffering from it go back and do it "over and over again", even when they know it is wrong.
He says it is only when a person admits they have no control over their behaviour that they can begin to deal with it.
Describing the organisation as a "fellowship", Tony says the meetings consist of the group getting together, discussing their problem and realising there are others out there in similar situations.
In recent related news, the Sunday Herald has reported the GA is planning a public meeting in the Dumfries and Galloway area to assess support for starting sessions in the region.
