A new organisation offering gambling addiction help is being set up in one Alabama town, a development that will also see the creation of new jobs.
Henagar will become the new home of the Alabama Council on Pathological Gambling once the organisation, which was established in 1999, moves from Alexandria, the Times Journal reports.
The council is led by Paul Peloquin, who has worked with addiction services and self-help initiatives throughout Alabama and Florida.
"The economic conditions in this area are not what they once were," he told the newspaper.
"This will bring a lot of publicity, a lot of focus and it will bring jobs."
Mr Peloquin went on to say that the organisation is currently seeking office space, although it is expected to open its doors within the next 30 days.
The council will employ 15 to 25 people, many of whom will be at the forefront of providing gambling addiction support.
Aside from gambling, Alabama has drug addiction problems relating to alcohol, crystal meth marijuana.
