A man from New Jersey has shown how to beat addiction problems and is now reaching out to others in a bid to help more people.
According to NJ.com, Andrew Watkins is looking to help more people to beat their drug addictions after successfully tackling his own problems following a 16-year habit.
Mr Watkins has set up a monthly meeting that will provide an opportunity for his non-profit group Change of Heart to inform parents about the threat of drugs in their local area and what they can do to prevent their own children from becoming involved in drugs.
"The purpose of the meeting is to give awareness to parents of what kinds of drugs kids are using, early signs of drug use, and where kids get the money to buy drugs," he told the publication.
Mr Watkins added: "The purpose is to educate parents on how to detect drug use."
His success in beating addiction has led him to set up the group and inspired him to help others with similar problems to confront the issue and beat their addictions.
As well as drug and alcohol addiction, the number of gambling addicts has been on the rise in the US of late.
Some experts have claimed they expect to see more gambling addicts in the near future, as more people look to beat the recession by attempting a quick win through gambling.
