A jailed arsonist sent down for an arson attack allegedly showed remorse for his actions after the sentencing and was seeking addiction advice, along with drug and alcohol treatment, it has been reported.
Sean Yateman, who is now serving his five-year prison term, attacked his landlady's house and was convicted of arson without malice, according to the Reading Evening Post.
His defending lawyer, Graeme Logan, said at the hearing the incident was a result of emotional problems and dependency on alcohol and drugs, with the night in question being fuelled by "drunkenness and the effect of cannabis".
The newspaper reports Mr Logan told the court: "He now knows that the lifestyle he was leading was ruining his life and the relationship with his daughter and the awful effect it has had on the household owner."
However, the judge said the fact the fire was severe and spread quickly demonstrated the "recklessness" of the accused, with it being fortunate nobody was hurt or killed.
