A dealer who used drug addicts as runners to help him supply the streets of north-east England with class-A substances has been successfully prosecuted.
Gary Lawson has been given a seven-and-a-half year prison sentence for his role in providing the area's drug abusers with heroine and cocaine.
Police detective inspector for the Grampian area Stewart Kidd described the man as a "major player" in supplying drug addicts in the Fraserburgh and Peterhead regions.
Claiming his team worked tirelessly to crack down on the substance abuse providers, he says the community has no place for those who encourage drug addiction.
"People like Gary Lawson, who prey on drug users by using them in their evil trade, will continue to be targeted," Mr Kidd asserts.
He says: "The problems with drug abuse in our area are well documented."
The northern port-town of Fraserburgh is commonly known as the UK's heroin capital.
Earlier this year, the Grampian police force announced the seizure of £3,500 worth of heroine and crack cocaine.
Two men were arrested in connection with the incident, which took place in April.
