Successful drug rehab programmes need to take a long-term view of a patient's health, it has been claimed.
According to the drug rehabilitation Network, it is important that those entering drug rehab have someone to help them with the process, with drug rehabilitation centres potentially being able to offer that person.
"You cant win a long-term fight without long-term allies," explained the Network, adding: "No one ever gets sober alone."
The importance of having an ally with the patient at a drug treatment centre is vital to the success of any rehabilitation programme, the Network suggested, because that contact with another person and the support that they provide can be crucial in helping a person kick their habit for good.
However, the Network warned that such a change can only happen over time, demonstrating the importance of looking at a rehabilitation programme as a long-term commitment rather than a quick-fix.
"Private drug rehabs play an instrumental role in the healing process, first and foremost by giving patients the skills and support they need to confront addiction head-on," it added.
The Sunset Malibu rehab clinic recently claimed personal attention was vital to helping patients with the recovery process.
