A campaign has been launched which aims to help those engaging in substance abuse to overcome their problem.
Making Every Adult Matter has been established as a joint project by Clinks, DrugScope, Homeless Link and Mind.
Intending to create synergy between the criminal justice system, organisations tackling mental health, homelessness and the problems presented by drug addiction and abuse, it aims to address the issues affecting the socially excluded.
Martin Barnes, the chief executive of DrugScope, claims dealing with substance addiction through rehab treatment without supplying housing or offering treatment for parallel psychological problems is not effective at preventing relapse.
"Launching Making Every Adult Matter marks our commitment to helping the most marginalised and excluded people in our society by working in partnership to effect change," he states.
The coalition has issued a report identifying its priorities and the approach it will take to reconfiguring the services its members supply.
Clive Martin, the chief executive of offenders charity Clinks, claims those experiencing substance addiction need long-term support if they are to overcome their problem.
In recent related news, research produced by Manchester University's National Drug Evidence Centre reveals receiving rehab treatment reduces the chances of former substance addiction victims reoffending.
