People with drug addictions in Ireland have been signing up for a new course in mindfulness meditation that can help them recover.
The eight-week programme focuses on getting drug addicts to focus on their surroundings and be mindful of the life around them, helping them to push their addictions out of their mind and help them recover.
According to the Irish Times, the Deora drug project in Dublins north inner city has taken on the new programme as a way of helping drug addicts not only to sober up but also stay clean after the addiction has first been broken.
It is hoped the scheme could be used in drug rehab clinics across the country and even the world as a way of tackling drug addiction.
One important factor for rehab clinics to consider, however, is that not the same addiction treatment will work for each individual.
The Sunset Malibu rehab clinic recently pointed out that a targeted programme focused on the specific needs of an individual is the best way to help people beat their addiction and remain drug-free in future.
