The effort and determination it takes to kick a drug addiction has been demonstrated at a drug rehab centre in Taiwan, it has been reported.
Around 20 inmates of the Taichung Drug Abuser Treatment Center gave violin performances for an audience of relatives, staff and peers, according to the China Post.
It was the culmination of a three-month violin class which was aimed at nurturing the former drug-users' mental development while they got on top of their habit.
The source says one of the inmates has derived a feeling of being more settled and a clearer direction in his life from his experiences.
Chou Hui-huang, director of the facility, told the publication: "Abstention will be easier or more pleasant if the centre can help the inmates rediscover the value of their lives during the rehab process."
He said it took patience and perseverance to overcome a drug addiction.
TransWorldNews recently said deferring drugs treatment generally means the user will fail in overcoming their dependence.
