drug addiction treatment centres have inspired a new theatrical production exploring the effects that addiction has on patients and their families.
My Name Is... which is arriving at Liverpool's Everyman Theatre this week, aims to get audiences thinking about the seriousness of drug addiction and how important it is that affected individuals receive the help they need, the Liverpool Daily Post reports.
Paul Kitcher and Kieran Sheehan, of the Paul and Kieran Dance Theatre, have created the play which presents both sides of drug abuse - the despair and hopelessness of addiction and the joy of a successful recovery.
"Working on this project has really opened my eyes and given me enormous respect, both for recovering addicts and those working with them," Mr Sheehan told the newspaper.
The play arrives at the Everyman Theatre on Friday after being inspired by the work of The Bridge Oasis Centre and Trust The Process rehabilitation centres. It has been supported financially by Arts Council England.
