Around 33% of kids think that 4-5 units of wine, beer or spirits in an evening is ok for adults to drink. This survey was run by a top childrens health charity. 25% of kids think that 5 units of wine a day is the norm.
This is above the binge drinking national average. This survey was carried out nationwide with over one thousand children around the age of 10. The question was put to the children around their view of adult drinkers.
The survey had other findings:
Nearly two thirds of kids think people drink to escape from stress. Half think people drink to have a good look image.
The survey gained more knowledge of children's thoughts on adults drinking habits. These results gave the charity more motivation to teach children at school how be mature and live a healthy life when they leave school. The world now has many drug and alcohol issues. Teaching our kids early that alcohol abuse is serious could be a great attribute to decreasing drug and alcohol abuse in the future.
Parents should send a better message to kids and think about how they portray what is correct for them to see and be around in regards to abusing drugs and alcohol.
