A landlord who is said to have narrowly missed crashing into a police car has been ordered to undergo a six-day alcohol rehab course, it has been reported.
Darren Bond, who refused a breathalyser test both when he was stopped by officers and later when he was taken into custody, was also sentenced to 14 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, according to the Eastern Daily Press.
He allegedly behaved strangely when police pulled him over, by staggering towards their vehicle and then diving into a nearby ditch.
The publication reports the chairman of the bench Margaret Oeschle told the defendant: "You were driving erratically, you had three passengers in the car and you nearly hit a police car. You were also uncooperative."
A licensing officer from Norfolk Constabulary, has told the newspaper there will be a further review of Mr Bond's sentence, which may involve implications for his business.
Earlier in the month a letter to the Times from information charity DrugScope said drug treatment is improving lives.
