A Yorkshire man receiving drug addiction support is sharing his experiences online so that others can learn from his story.
Mark Burns has set up a blog on the Wired In to Recovery website, describing his drug addiction therapy programme provided at the New Beginnings Centre in Balby, the Doncaster Free Press reports.
He also apologises to his victims and family members on his postings, and describes 2009's Christmas as the first he has spent drugs-free since he was 11.
Paying tribute to his successful drug addiction rehabilitation, Mr Burns said he is not the same person who once walked through the drug addiction facility's doors.
"I was a wreck and they helped to strip me down and build me back up into a good, decent, caring member of society," he told the newspaper.
"I was just a body, the addiction ran me. Towards the end, the drugs weren't working and I had no desire to continue living the lifestyle I had. It was rock bottom."
Mr Burns' addiction spiralled out of control in his teens and at one point his crack and heroin addiction was costing him over £500 a day, an amount that was funded through criminal behaviour such as burglaries and thefts.
As part of its drug addiction programme, New Beginnings offers group talks, workshops and one-on-one talks.
