A rehab center in Michigan is to celebrate its 20th anniversary next month, when it will also be taking part in a programme of events aimed at highlighting the benefits of undertaking addiction rehab initiatives.
Narconon Freedom Center, a residential drug treatment center in Albion, Michigan, will host a series of events and is also releasing a number of true stories from its own patients over the past 20 years, who will be testifying about the rehab clinic's success in getting them to break with their addiction.
"National Recovery Month will be celebrated here by acknowledging those who have reached their goal of sobriety," explained Megan Werner Brennan, the dissemination supervisor at the Narconon Freedom Center.
Recovery Month ribbons will be passed out to members of the public over the course of September to help people show their support for the efforts of rehab centers such as the Narconon Freedom Center.
The clinic is one of many in the US and across the globe that uses personalised addiction treatment programmes to help individuals come to terms with their problems and face up to their own demons, rather than simply putting people on a one-size-fits-all scheme.
Alternative treatments such as acupuncture and mountain walks are increasingly being used by clinics as part of a range of methods designed to help patients break their cycle of addiction while in rehabilitation.
