Addiction centers are seeing an increase in the number of people coming to them for addiction treatment following the economic downturn, according to new figures.

The number of people heading to rehab centers in the US because of problems with addiction looks set to continue rising as the economic downturn takes its toll.

According to New Directions for Women, a non-profit women's addiction treatment and rehab center in Costa Mesa, California, rates of addiction are rising, with the economic turmoil believed to be a major factor.

According to the rehab center, a growing number of people are struggling with addiction problems alone because they do not think they can afford addiction treatment, while families are having to also deal with the increased burden of looking after a loved one with an addiction.

As a result, the rehab center is offering two new programmes designed to offer more affordable addiction treatment services to patients.

Many rehab centers advocate programmes that offer personalised addiction treatment that is tailored to the needs of the individual.

It is thought that such an approach can help a person beat their addiction more successfully by having a person to rely on to help them through their problems.
