A new cash boost has helped to establish a new service for addiction recovery services in Derby, it has been reported.
The Derby Telegraph reports that the Link Work Project has been established thanks to £140,000 in funding provided by central government to help tackle drug and alcohol addiction in the area and provide new addiction treatment services for local people.
The project is being coordinated by the charity Women's Work, which has previously focused on providing help and support to street sex workers, but will now offer addiction recovery services as well.
Chief executive Dionne Reid told the newspaper: "There are so many people who lack basic coping skills and life skills."
It is hoped the funding can help the charity to provide greater support and care for people with drug and alcohol addictions and provide a rehab clinic service to wean people off substances.
Many rehab centres look to tackle drug problems by implementing personalised approaches to treatment, rather than a one-size-fits-all process.
Such a personalised system can help individuals get to the root of their addictions and help them confront the reasons why they ended up getting addicted to substances in the first place.
