A new drug addiction treatment program has been launched to deal with the increasing illegal use of Adderall.
The SouthCoast recovery centre has launched a scheme to help users who have become dependent on the substance, which is composed of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine.
According to the rehab clinic, those engaging in substance abuse with the drug can be left with an irregular heartbeat, high body temperatures and a larger risk of cardiovascular failure.
The centre warns: "Users choosing to go "cold turkey"
are more likely to experience the negative effects of withdrawal in a more pronounced manner. Often drug and alcohol dependency is symptomatic of underlying issues that need to be addressed on an individual basis."
SouthCoast states Adderall is becoming increasingly popular due to its low price and accessibility and is often used in lieu of drugs such as crystal meth and cocaine.
Earlier this month, Cliffside Malibu rehab clinic claimed a holistic approach is needed for those suffering some forms of substance addiction.
It claims professional help is the only effective way of tackling the disease and says action is needed if the pattern is to be broken.
