A toddler in Scotland who died after his drug-addicted father attacked him and then left him in a toilet at a party has highlighted the threat of drug addiction.
The death has reiterated the dangers of drug addiction and has demonstrated the importance of enabling addicts to get the drug treatment they need, through access to drug rehab clinics.
Ingrid Hainey, head of operations for adult services in Tayside, told Scotland's Sunday Mail that rehab clinics can provide help to people suffering from addiction and can give them the support they need.
"People come in when they are at a very low ebb. They don't have much self-esteem but you can make a very big difference by taking simple steps," she explained.
Many drug rehab clinics advocate the use of small, slow steps as a practical way to help people with addiction problems tackle the issue and eventually beat their addiction.
Personalised drug treatment programmes are also adopted at many rehab clinics as a way to tailor a rehabilitation scheme to the needs of the individual, ensuring they are getting treatment that will make a difference to them.
