A new survey suggests the UK population is overwhelmingly in favour of providing addiction treatment services for people with drug addiction problems.
Over three quarters (76 per cent) of those polled in a DrugScope and ICM study saw providing addiction treatment as a sensible use of government money.
"drug treatment is worthy of public investment and should be delivered in the most effective way possible, to help drug users get their lives back on track," said Martin Barnes, chief executive of DrugScope.
He added that the findings of the research were "extremely encouraging".
Many drug rehab clinics can provide high quality services for addicts, including a personalised programme to help them tackle their problems and reintegrate them into the community.
rehab clinics can offer a tailored service as well as providing a mentor who can give an addict the help and support they need to face up to and defeat their problem.
The research also found that 88 per cent of respondents believe drug addiction treatment should be available to anyone who is prepared to address their problem.
A recent study from the University of Maryland in the US suggested that self-evaluation is one of the most important steps in an individual's substance abuse treatment.
