The establishment of a new drug abuse centre is needed in Flintshire as a means to help the increasing number of people requiring addiction support.
This is according to one local criminal justice student, who wished to remain un-named, telling The Leader that a drug abuse clinic would have the potential to limit the number of drug users in Holywell.
"rehab helps them for a certain while then puts them back out on to the streets with no job and no future. It's not doing any good," she explained to the newspaper.
"These people need ongoing support and a clinic would do that."
The student went on to say that those in need of drug abuse therapy would "give some time to kick the habit" if such a facility was established, and that if nothing is done, the problem will "get worse".
In response to the student's calls, Flintshire Council told The Leader that drug and alcohol misuse is one of its main priorities, although it had "no plans" to open a new addiction centre in the Holywell area.
The council has its own Young Persons Drug and Alcohol Team, which supports young people in the county experiencing problems relating to drug and alcohol addiction.
