Swindon Carers' Centre has launched a new service aimed at helping those people who look after drug addicts.
The service provides one-to-one support and advice for those caring for people with drug addictions and gives guidance on how addiction treatment can be sought.
Many of those with drug problems can benefit from heading to a rehab centre to tackle these problems head-on, but not everyone is willing to make that step, leaving family and friends to cope with their problems.
The Swindon Carers' Centre will also provide monthly workshops to help carers deal with those who have addictions, the Swindon Advertiser reports.
Many drug rehabilitation centres now focus on providing targeted, one-to-one treatment to addicts as part of a scheme to deal more effectively with the problem.
A tailored service can help a person work out how best to beat their addiction, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
And the Baltimore Sun reports that a jail in Baltimore, in the US, has taken an unusual approach to tackling drug addiction, by giving inmates acupuncture.
Many of those who have used the acupuncture as a treatment at the jail have claimed it to be a successful method in helping them beat their addiction, even though modern science has yet to find the ancient Chinese therapy any better than a placebo.
