A transitional residence rehab clinic for women with alcohol and drug addiction problems has been established, a source reveals.
The House of Recovery Faith and Hope has been set up in Surry county to help females overcome their dependencies, the Mount Airy News reports.
Founded by Angela Allen, the rehab center's executive director says it is a non-profit organization so as to be accessible to the largest number of people.
According to the news provider, the two-year program offered by the treatment clinic provides a safe and structured environment, followed by a year of outpatient follow-up.
Ms Allen states: "When some of the women go back home, they return to the same routine and are around the same triggers - drugs, alcohol..."
She tells the source her decision to establish the rehab clinic was caused by someone close to her experiencing a cocaine addiction, which she describes as an incident which "shaped my life".
In other news, the SouthCoast Recovery rehab center has launched a new programme designed to help individuals overcome a legal substance addiction.
The clinic tackles Adderall dependency, a drug which can leave users with an irregular heartbeat and a higher risk of cardiovascular failure.
